Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement

Let Senior Advisor and President of AEGIS Financial, William Bowman, CPA, along with his staff and professional partners help you as you approach retirement.  As a pre-retiree, you are most likely concerned about building enough wealth to retire, increasing retirement income or exploring lifestyle options.  Through this course, you can learn the tools to make informed decisions whether setting future goals, allocating assets or minimizing the impact of taxes.  You will also learn ways to plan for your legacy.

The course is broken into six, two-hour courses with topics that span the important information you need to know.

Session 1:  Financial Basics                                         

Financial Basics provides an overview of retirement income, timing, using credit wisely, minimizing taxes, and making your money last. Instructor: William Bowman, CPA, AEGIS Financial

Session 2:  Your Retirement Income                     

Learn about all of the potential sources of retirement income, personal and employer retirement plans, and the rules on distribution and withdrawal from accounts. Instructor: William Bowman, CPA, AEGIS Financial

Session 3:  Investments                                                                

Take an in-depth look at your investment choices: stocks, bonds, annuities, life insurance, and 529 plans and learn what make each investment unique.  Instructors: William Bowman, CPA, AEGIS Financial and Jake Harmsen, CPA, AEGIS Financial

Session 4:  Risk Management                                     

Manage your risk through health, Medicare, long-term and life insurance. Instructors: William Bowman, CPA, AEGIS Financial and Michael Donnan, CLTC, AEGIS Financial

Session 5:  Estate Planning                                         

Make the best decisions about your estate through proper planning and knowing how to best distribute your assets. Instructors: Robert A. Mathers, CPA, ABV, PFS and Thomas W. Moniz, Shareholder Attorneys, Von Briesen & Roper, s.c.

Session 6:  Panel Discussion

All of the instructors will have a brief panel discussion and be available to consult and expand upon your personal financial situation.

This series will help you develop a plan to:

  • Understand a variety of investment choices & increase your investment returns
  • Use federal tax laws to your advantage
  • Make wise use of your employer-provided benefits
  • Protect yourself and your family from economic catastrophes

For the full series

The fee for the full program is $129 for a couple in the same household or $109 for an individual. UW Oshkosh alumni receive a $10 discount. The fee includes instruction, and participants purchase a $30 workbook.

For one session

Per class, the fee is $59 for a couple in the same household or $39 for an individual. UW Oshkosh alumni receive a $10 discount. The fee includes instruction, and participants purchase a $30 workbook.

Bill has over 25 years of experience in the wealth management field, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is heavily involved with numerous community organizations. He also has his series 6, 7, 63 and 65 and his life, health and insurance licenses. He is responsible for the overall well-being and confidence of the entire team. Bill leads the development of client models and individualized financial strategies and plans. He also monitors, manages and is held accountable for sustaining exceptional knowledge of investments. Jake has over 11 years of experience in the financial industry. He holds his series 7, 63 and 65 and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting & Economics and Finance from Marian University. Jake also has his insurance license in life, health, and long-term care. He is active as a Big Brother at the Oshkosh Boys and Girls Club. As an advisor, he develops models and financial plans as well as manages investments to make sure each client is taken care of and understands their personal strategy. Michael has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry. He is licensed in life and health insurance and is Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC); Michael holds his series 7 and 66. As an associate advisor, he supports all areas of the client experience to provide additional guidance through the entire financial planning process.
