Math Prep Academy • July 10 – Aug. 23, 2017
Improve your math placement score by enrolling in the UW Oshkosh math placement exam prep, and skip Math 100, 101, and 103!
Math Prep is a math placement exam prep course to give incoming UW Oshkosh freshmen the opportunity to move ahead in their required mathematics coursework. Complete your required mathematics sequence faster by improving your placement score!
This is a 7-week online course with tutors to prepare you for college level mathematic work.
Who should participate?
This program is designed for incoming freshmen who placed into Math 100, 101, or 103, which are required for advancement in the math sequence but do not bear any credit toward an undergraduate degree.
All students at UW Oshkosh are required to take a math sequence as part of their degree requirements. A baseline for their math knowledge is assessed through the math placement exam.
Students who do well enough on the placement exam are permitted to skip one or more of these courses and are placed into a higher math course that does quality for credit.
Guaranteed Class Registration
After the math placement exam prep course, students can retake the math placement exam. Exam costs are built into the course fee — students do not need to pay an additional fee. If a student’s score is improved enough that they are no longer required to take remedial courses (Math 100, 101, or 103), we will guarantee a spot for them in the course into which they test. If students do not improve their placement scores, they will remain in the course they originally placed.
If students do improve their scores and are placed into a higher level course, an academic advisor will contact them to change to the appropriate course for the fall semester.
The cost for this program is $299, which includes instruction and placement exam fees.
The program is limited to 40 students. If more than 40 students register, we will select students based on their previous placement scores. Students will be notified by July 5, 2017, if they are confirmed for enrollment in the program.
