Women’s Wellness and Education – Food, Fitness and Fun!

In a New Year, Find a New You!

Saturday, February 24, 2018; 9 am – 2 pm (8:30 Registration)

UW Oshkosh Continuing Education and the Oshkosh Seniors Center are partnering to offer you an exciting day centered on Women’s Wellness and Education. There will be healthy cooking demonstrations and chances to taste everything to give you new ideas for every meal. We will also have movement opportunities, along with a cardio drumming class which will be modified for all fitness abilities. This program will be led by Rebecca Aldag, a Certified Nutrition Specialist with an MS in Herbal Medicine; and Kristie Butler, a Registered Licensed Dietitian. As an added bonus, a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Aurora will be speaking about Women’s Health issues.

Whether you are cooking for one or a family of picky eaters, you will learn:

  1. Healthy alternatives to many of your favorites;
  2. How to select the best possible foods on all budgets;
  3. How to incorporate protein and calcium through non-traditional sources;
  4. Great on-the-go foods for busy people; and
  5. How to eat healthy while still enjoying your meals and feeling satisfied.

Cost: $85 Early Bird Pricing. $95 after February 2, 2018.

UW Oshkosh Alumni, Faculty and Staff receive a $10 discount.

Instructor Bios:

Rebecca Aldag, MBA, MS, CNS, RH

Aldag is a professional wellness expert who combines her vast knowledge of science with a passion for nutrition, herbal medicine, and strength training. The owner of Aldag Wellness in Neenah, she holds an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management; an MS in herbal medicine from Maryland University of Integrative Health; a BS in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Aldag is a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), a Registered Herbalist (RH) with the American Herbalists Guild, and a Level 2 StrongFirst Certified Kettlebell Instructor. She is a sought-after speaker and instructor at wellness workshops throughout the state, teaches StrongFirst kettlebell weight training classes, and designs and advises individuals, groups, and corporations on wellness topics and programs.

Kristie Butler, BS, RD

Butler is a Registered Licensed Dietitian with a special interest and fellowship training in pediatric nutrition. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for nutrition while helping her patients incorporate realistic and fun solutions that fit their individual lifestyles. Regardless of age, she encourages all of her patients to practice self-awareness and biofeedback to identify what makes their individual bodies feel and function best. In her spare time, Butler enjoys park-hopping with her family, traveling, running, and recipe testing at home.

Butler completed her Bachelor’s degree through the University of Florida and Dietetic Internship through Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is also a graduate of the Pediatric Nutrition Fellowship Program at Indiana University Purdue University which focuses on nutritional care for infants, adolescents, and teens with special health needs, feeding concerns, metabolic conditions, food allergies, and weight management.

Julie Ortman

Ortman has been involved in the health and fitness world for many years. She is passionate about helping people be their best self and making personal connections.  As the current Wellness Director for Verve, a Credit Union, she is committed to creating a more engaged, productive and healthy culture for her Verve teammates. Ortman is a DI Scholarship Athlete in Volleyball, holds a M.A. in Sports Psychology, has served as a high school and collegiate volleyball and track coach, and has been the owner-operator of a personal training business. To recharge, Ortman enjoys cycling, boating, fishing and having quiet time with wife Pam and dog Beau.
